Fishermans Beach & Longreef Point

Fishermans Beach & Longreef Point

Sydney's Fisherman's Beach & Longreef Point is a favourite of mine to visit on a bright & sunny day. You can walk up to the top of the point & watch hang gliders & whales migrating either North or South as well as surfing. On a clear day you can follow the coastline with its many beaches & headlands as far as the eye can see.

I carry a pocket sketch pad and use it like a camera to record the scene as the basis for the painting at home.

Similarly for The Old 'Newnes Hotel' a historic building in a long abandoned mining town in a beautiful valley. I used artistic licence to include the cliffs opposite in the background.

Love Long Reef NEW
by:

I have fond memories of Long Reef eating mangoes on hot summer days by the water then washing my sticky hands and face in the salty sea ...hanging out with my best friend walking from there to Manly and back and a school excursion finding fossils along the reef from the extinct volcano .Thanks for the memories and the lovely imageA
