by Millie King
(Honolulu, Hawaii)
I painted this at the request of someone who had bought 2 smaller paintings. He asked me use backlit flowers to use my imagination.
Since the client was living here in Hawaii I wanted it to have the feeling of tropical flowers, water, sunsets and sunrises. A portion of a rainbow, Hawaii is known as the rainbow state appeared at the top left (not planned but I liked it.) about halfway through I imagined the flower splashing into the waves, but I didn't know how I was going to create that effect, so I had to imagine how it might look. and because the flower had so much detail, I purposely left a lot of detail out of the water, not wanting it to look too busy.
Alkyd oils
Size 24 x 48" on canvas.
I need help with a title.
