All About Mark
Mark grew up on the NSW North Coast at Lennox Head, enjoying an idyllic childhood amidst the surf beaches and stunning hinterland of the Northern Rivers region.
Mark's compulsion to paint emerged at a young age, along with his passion for surfing, the water, and an interest in the local flora and fauna.
This intense interest in his immediate environment infuses almost every aspect of his life, and drives him to recreate these childhood moments through beautifully rendered images filled with colour and life.
They hum with the awe he experiences whilst both discovering and creating his art. Mark's general philosophy on life comprises embracing moments of simple pleasure with his family and friends. He wishes to leave a small footprint on the world - and these values are reflected in his art.
As well as being a successful artist Mark enjoys using reclaimed materials in unique ways to create one off furniture pieces. He has built his own home and studio and continues to develop and improve the precious space he shares with his family.
Mark has an infectious excitement about the artistic process. He captures the childlike joy of everyday life & shares it with us all; his passion for fun and creativity is inspiring and contagious.
Mark's work is displayed in galleries in Melbourne, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Sydney and in San Jose and New York in the United States; and he has exhibited Australia wide and internationally since 1988.
