Resting

Resting

Resting

This is a painting that was inspired by a visit to Valentine creek in Maryland. I was taking photos of the area for some ideas and came upon a boat ramp that just screamed "please take this boat out! It is tired of resting".

I love the water and wanted to tell the boat's story, thus the title "Resting". The additional paintings of boats are boats docked in Annapolis Md. I love to capture the beauty of boat structures with light playing on them.

There is something about zooming in on my subject matter that inspires me.

We share an interest! NEW
by: Jane (from UK)

Hi Linda - it appears we share an interest! I too love painting closeups of boats ... in fact some of my paintings are on this site too.

I really like your pictures - especially the unusual angles looking through the guard rails. I also like the calm water that you've achieved in "Resting"

Do you sail or go boating ... I always think the best paintings of boats are done by people who know boats intimately as they know how they sit in the water, how they move in different conditions etc.
